　　China has the largest population in the world. As there are many China-towns in the world, it shows that Chinese people are everywhere, because the traditional idea advocates that the more children, the better for a family. While the situation is opposite in the western country, they chase for freedom and individuality. Having more children is burden for them, and some people choose to be single all the time. So the birth rate is really low in western countries, such as Canada. The government even inspires people to have babies, and they promises to offer prizes like money and baby stuff, but the birth rate still the same, even worse. In my opinion, everybody has the choice to decide whether to be a parent. If they love children, then they can raise more according to the financial situation.

　　Both Chinese families and American families are smaller than they used to be。 Most young Chinese parents have only one child， while young Americans also prefer to have fewer children than their parents have。

　　However， unlike the Chinese young people， many young American couples think it is not easy to get along with their parents。 They will leave their parents and have their own homes once they get married。 Many of them would almost never live with their parents again。 It is a sad thing indeed。

　　Things are different in China。 Both the young and the old admit the problems between them， but they will try to understand each other。 Besides， sons and daughters in China will feel that they must take care of their old parents while old people cannot help wanting to do some thing for their busy children。 So it is still very common in today's China to see married sons and daughters living with their parents。 However， China no longer has families where four generations live under the same roof。

　　the changes in diet can be accounted for by a number of factors. first, people are much wealthier than before. with higher income,they can afford to buy good foods. another factor is that people have realized the importance of a balanced diet to their health. lack of certain amount of meat or milk,for eample, will result in poor health. finally, owing to the eeonomic reform, meat, chicken, fish and milk, which were scarce in the past, are produced in large quantities. for all these reasons, what was formerly called "the basket of vegetables" has.

　　to sum up, insignificant as those changes may seem, they are the signs of the improved economic condition in china. we believe that as long as the effort continuous in reform and opening to the outside world, there will be greater changes in peoples diet in the future.
