Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
Today I am very glad/ to have the chance/ to make a speech /on East and West Pagodas./
The East and West Pagodas /flanking Kaiyuan Temple/ are the best preserved stone pagodas/ in China./ They stand as a symbol/ of the ancient Quanzhou city./ At first, /the pagodas /were built of wood and stone,/ then brick, /and later stone. They have withstood 1000 years/ of earthquakes and tourists./
The East pagoda is named Zhengguo, /which means "
"./ It was built of wood/ in 670 A.D. /and was later rebuilt/ as a 48.24m Stone pagoda./ The west pagoda /is called Renshou, /which means "merit and longevity". / It was built/ in 916/. From bottom to top，/the both pagodas/ are covered with/ lots of lifelike carvings./ The West Pagodas/ has two highly unusual carvings. /One is of the Monkey King, /and the other one /is of a goddess of Mercy./ Besides,/ visitors can climb up to /the top storey, /where they can enjoy/ a full view of the Quanzhon city./ This pair of towers/ are the highest stone towers /in China. Due to their uniqueness/, they are regarded as/ a special landmark /of Quanzhou City/. There is an old saying/ in my hometown/:" Stand as the East and West Pagodas, /and lie as the Luoyang Bridge." /It shows that/ what a special position/ the pagodas take/ in Quanzhou people's hearts./

It borders Hunan Province to the west, Guangdong to the south, and Fujian to the east, as well as Ji'an and Fuzhou city in Jiangxi to the north.
Ganzhou is a very beautiful city with sound environment and pleasant climate. It is especially famous for its forestation and mountainous areas. More than 83% of Ganzhou, is characterized by many mountains.In spring, Ganzhou is covered with green and filled with hope. In summer, the trees are thriving; the flowers are in full bloom. Walking under the shadows with dear family members must be a wonderful experience. In autumn, it is cool and the breeze touches your face gently. It is also time for harvest. In winter, the climate here is cold. It doesn’t snow often. But here in Ganzhou, winter has its special charm.
Ganzhou is also rich in different kinds of resources, such as agricultural resources, land resources, timber resources, abundant water resources, valuable animal resources, rare mineral resources, and so on. I hope you will make a visit here one day.
