自從一年級認識他，我們便成了最要好的朋友。我倆討論時在一起，下課活動時在一起。他住在學校西邊，我住在學校南邊，但是我倆放學都要一起出校門，然后再告別回家。
低年級時，我們用的`是鉛筆。他慣用一支很粗的鉛筆，但是他的字卻寫得很好，端正而樸實，濃重而規范，經常受到表揚，我羨慕得不得了。在這粗鉛筆下，他也畫得一手好畫。有一次，他畫了一頭牛，還是用那粗鉛筆。這牛不像西洋素描那樣輕描淡寫，也不像油畫那樣色彩濃艷。而是包涵了一種中國人的樸實，并且栩栩如生。
中年級時，他對中國歷史文化產生濃厚興趣，其中看中那偉大的愛國精神。他會背誦許多愛國詩詞。一次語文課梁老師叫我們講一些愛國的故事，并背一些有關的詩詞。他高高舉起了手，講了“岳飛精忠報國”的故事，并背了他那首被流傳千古的《滿江紅》：
