Last weekend, our class had a public benefit activity.
In fact, we went to nursing homes to recite English and Chinese texts and sing songs for them for the old ladies and men. A few days before, we read a text about the loneliness of the people in the nursing homes. So we are volunteering to hold this volunteer labor. We have prepared our own part at for a week. On Saturday afternoon, we brought our performance there and showed them one by one.
The old were laughed happily, so did we. It’s so good to have such an activity.
上個周末，我們班進行了一場公益活動。

As for elderly, living in caring house is better than living at home with young children. Present your argument to illustrate whether you agree or disagree.
Nowadays more and more elderly choose living in caring house. Some people are of the opinion that caring houses provide old people with a better environment than homes. Personally I agree with this opinion for the following reasons.
In the first instance, caring house provides the elderly with comparatively first-rate facilities and services, which the family is lacking in. Nowadays working couple need to face intense competition, they need to make more money to support their family. As a result, working couple have less time to care for old people especially when the elderly suffer from serious disease. On the contrary, when old people live in caring houses, nurses can attend their need and advanced facilities also provide a good treatment.
Secondly, in caring houses the older people can meet people of similar age group, taste and hobby who know more about the elderly. The young generation often has a different life style from old generation. Young people many feel other’s presence would upset. Besides, the older people need more serenity and rest while the young need more activities when the elderly choose living in caring house they need not worry about this problem.
Last but not least, elder people living in caring house can maintain harmony of family atmosphere. It is quite obvious that there is a generation gap between the older people and adult children. For example, old people fear change. They adhere to the traditional principle and customs while young people welcome new idea. They are always trying new things. It is inevitable that older people and adult children might have different opinions on something. These differences might result in the disagreement even discord.
From what has been discussed above, we may draw the conclusion that elderly people living in caring house is a good practice not only for adult children but also for older people. However, it does not mean children will give up the responsibility to care older people.

In order to celebrate the Festival of Ascending High, the Students Union organized a volunteer activity to help elderly people in its neighborhood on Oct. 17th.
Volunteers made full use of their strengths and offered various services during the activity. Medical students offered to take blood pressure and measure heart rate, psychology majors counseled the elderly on their mental issues, and those from the fashion and design department made comfortable clothes for the old. Even questions concerning how to avoid being cheated financially were covered in the activity.
The activity received high praise from both the aged and the students. The former said that this was the best services they had ever experienced. The latter, on the other hand, believed that this had been a perfect chance for them to apply what they had learned to real life situations, and they felt proud that their professional knowledge could be of use and the activity made them feel needed.

On June 14, Friday, a volunteer activity where many students took an active part in visiting the local Nursing House was organized by the Student Union and it turns out to be a big success.
The activity was aimed at encouraging students to visit the elderly at the Nursing House and help elderly people deal with their troubles both physical and psychological. Many students volunteered to participate in this good deed and were engaged in helping the elderly here out by making their meals, washing their clothes and chatting with them. When asked about those volunteers’ feelings about such an experience, all of them responded with a smile, saying “what a wonderful practice and I really appreciate this experience, for it makes me learn to care more for others in need.”
All in all, the activity turns out to be a success not only for the visited elderly but for those students involved.
