19. give up a.放棄 +n./doing 當(dāng)賓語是it/them時，則放在up 之前。
e.g.He was forced to give up school.他被迫輟學(xué)。
He gave up smoking at last.
b.獻(xiàn)出，讓出，交出
He gave up his seat to the old woman.

c.投降，認(rèn)輸，泄氣，其后可以不接賓語
e.g. Don’t give up, you may succeed.
d. give up on 對---表示絕望，放棄，（不可以用被動態(tài)）
I give up upon you.我對你不抱希望了。
