可用在冠詞，物主代詞和其他限定詞之前。當(dāng)它與名詞復(fù)數(shù)連用時，表“所有的”
“一切的”；而與物質(zhì)名詞或抽象名詞連用時，則表“整個的”，“全部的”。

entire 全部的，完整的；整個的，完全的。用來強(qiáng)調(diào)事物的整體，有具體的和抽象
的兩種含義。通常形容一種物質(zhì)的，數(shù)目的，時間性的或品質(zhì)上的實(shí)體。
The enemy burned the entire city.
He wrote the entire novel in only six months.
He has in entire ignorance of the matter.
total 全體的，總計(jì)的，全部的。只暗示一個可計(jì)量的總體，指某事全部被計(jì)算，測量或考慮過之后得出的總數(shù)。
My effort ended in total failure.
His total earnings for 1998are 40,000 dollars.
whole 全體的，全部的，完全的。只沒有被分割的整體，常可與all換用，但
他們的位置不同。Whole 常放在冠詞，物主代詞和其他限定詞之后；當(dāng)用來修飾名詞復(fù)數(shù)時，表“整個的”，一般不與物質(zhì)名詞和不可數(shù)名詞連用，語氣比entire 隨便。
The whole world was surprised at the news.
It took him a whole day to repair the car.
