The great ship, Titanic, set off for America in April 1912 on its first trip. It carried more than 1 000 people.

原因狀語從句表示主句所發生的原因或理由。通常由because, as, since, for等詞引導。

1. because語氣最強,用于回答why的提問,不能和so并存。可放在主句前,也可放在主句后面。

eg:I didn’t go to school, because I was ill yesterday.

2. as和since語氣較弱,用來表示非常明顯的原因或者對方已經了解的原因。從句一般放在主句前面。

eg: As all the seats were full, he had to stood there.

Since you are going, I will go, too.

3. for一般表示理由,進一步說明。常放在主句后面。

eg: He wore more clothes, for it was cold.

同級比較句型

1. 肯定形式as…as… ……和……一樣

A+ be+ as+ 形容詞原級+ as+ B eg: Helen is as tall as Maria.

A+行為動詞+as+副詞原級+as + B eg: Helen runs as quickly as Maria.

2.否定形式 not as/so…as… ……不如……

A+ be+ not + as/so+ 形容詞原級+ as + B

eg: Helen isn’t as tall as Maria.
