【教學重點與難點】
1.詢問方向和指點方向
學會和掌握這方面的用語很有實用價值。所謂實用價值即指在日常生活中，你肯定或經常會遇到這方面的情況，必須通過交流加以解決。那么這種“交流”的過程其實就是在使用“詢問方向”和“指點方向”的用語。
1)詢問方向的用語有很多。例如：
①Excuse me. Could/ Can you tell me the way to the station? 請問，去車站怎么走？
②Excuse me. Which is the way to the police station? 請問，去警察局怎么走？
③Excuse me. Which way shall I take to the zoo? 請問，去動物園我該走哪條路？
④Excuse me. Could/Can you help me find the fruit shop? 請問，你能幫我找到那家水果店嗎？
⑤Excuse me. Where is the nearest post office? 勞駕，最近的郵局在哪兒？
⑥Excuse me. How can I get to No.14 Middle School? 勞駕，往第十四中學怎么走？
⑦Excuse me. Is there a hospital near here? 勞駕，附近有醫院嗎？
⑧Excuse me. Could/Can you tell me how to get to the bookshop? = Excuse me. Could/Can you tell me how I can get to the bookshop? 勞駕，去書店怎么走？
*注：在向對方打聽情況或證詢意見時，常以“Excuse me”開頭，可譯為“請問”、“勞駕”。（見上例譯文）
*注：在向對方提出請求時，用“Could you…”比“Can you…”更禮貌，如例句①④⑧。
2)指點方向的用語也有很多。例如：
⑴It’s about two hundred metres along on the left. （它在）左前方約兩百米遠。
⑵It’s about four kilometres away. （它）離這兒大約四公里遠。
⑶It’s over there on the right. （它）在那邊的右面。
⑷It’s on the other side of the street. （它）在街道的另一邊。
⑸It’s far/near from here. （它）離這兒很遠/很近。
⑹It’s about ten minutes’ ride from here. 從這兒騎車大約十分鐘的路程。
⑺It’s next to / behind / in front of the shop. 它在商店的旁邊/后面/前面。
⑻It’s at the end of the road. 在這條路的盡頭/走到頭就是。
⑼Take the first/second/third turning on the left/right. = Turn left/right at the first/second/third turning. 在第一個/第二個/第三個路口向左/右拐。
⑽Go across the bridge and walk along (the road) about fifty metres. 過了這座橋，然后沿著這條路向前走五十米左右。
⑾Take a No.6 bus on this side and get off at the third stop. 在這邊乘6路公共汽車，在第三個站下車。
2.all the same“（雖然……）還是”，“仍然”。
通常與“Thank you ”構成一句日常用語，即“Thank you all the same.”直譯為“雖然……還是/仍然要感謝你。”用于下列情景：1)雖然對方沒能給你滿意的答復；2)雖然對方沒有滿足你的要求時，你仍有禮貌地向對方表示謝意。漢語譯文可視語境靈活處理。例如：
①-Excuse me. Which is the way to the cinema? 請問，電影院怎么走？
-Sorry. I don’t know. 對不起，我不知道。
-Thank you all the same. 沒關系，謝謝你。
②-Excuse me. How can I get to the teachers’ office? 請問，教師辦公室在哪兒？
-Sorry. I don’t know. You’d better ask that boy. 對不起，我不知道。你最好問問那個男生。
-Thank you all the same. 好吧，謝謝你。
3.You’d better… “最好還是……”，“還是……好”。
You’d better是You had better的縮略形式，用于表示建議或勸說，后面接動詞原形，即had better do sth，否定式是had better not do sth. 例如：
1)It is going to rain. You’d better take your raincoat with you. 要下雨了。你最好帶著雨衣。
2)It’s too late. We’d better not go out. 太晚了。我們最好不要出去了。
*注：had better do sth意指現在或將來，不指過去。
*注：had better是固定用法，用于所有人稱。例如：
She’d better stay here. 她最好留下來。
4.outside和out of
outside作為介詞意思是“在……的外面”，是靜態性質；而out of則意為“向……外”，“出去/來”，是動態性質。例如：
1)They are going to meet outside the school gate. 他們打算在校門外集合。
2)Please wait outside the house. 請在屋外等候。
3)They are running out of the classroom. 他們正跑出教室。
4)Look out of the windows now. What can you see? 現在請向窗外看。你們看見什么啦？
5.look for和find
look for表示動作，意為“尋找”；find表示結果，意為“找到”。例如：
1)-What are you doing? -I am looking for my ruler.
椖閽詬墑裁矗織我正在找尺子。
2)─Where did you find the ruler? ─Under the chair.
─你在哪兒找到的尺子？─在椅子底下。
3)─What’s wrong? ─I’m looking for my ruler everywhere, but I can’t find it.
─怎么啦？─我到處找我的尺子，可是沒找到。
6.與look搭配的短語
這類短語我們已學了不少，現在歸納如下：
1)look for尋找；2)look at看；3)look like看起來象……；4)look after照料；5)look over檢查；6)look the same看起來很相象；7)look around環顧四周；8)look out of…向……外看；9)look worried顯得很著急。
7.與take搭配的短語
take的首意為“拿”，但它和不同的名詞，即賓語搭配，意思則往往不同。例如：
1)take a bus/a taxi乘公共汽車/出租車；2)take one’s seat就坐；3)take a walk散步；4)take this way走這條路；5)take a rest休息；6)take a look看一看；7)take a bath洗澡；8)take pictures照相。
8.辯異along, up和down
當它們作為介詞時，都可表示“沿著”，“順著”。例如：
1)The old men and women are having a walk along/up/down the road. 老人們正沿著這條路散步。
2)The car is running along/up/down the street to a tall building. 那輛小汽車順著那條街行駛開到了一座高樓前。
*注：up含有“向上”，“向上游”，“過來”的意思，down含有“向下”，“在下游”，“過去”的意思，也就是說有明顯的方向性。而along則不強調方向。試比較：
1)A cat is climbing up/down the tree. 一只貓正往樹上/正向樹下爬去。
2)The hospital is 300 metres up/down the river. 醫院在這條河上游/下游的300米處。
3)Who’s the boy coming up/going down the road? 沿著這條路走來/走去的那個男孩是誰？
*注：along, up, down還都可用作副詞，表示“向前”。例如：
It’s about two hundred metres along. 大約在前面二百米處。
9.語音
1)[k]字母c,k和字母組合ck都發這個音。例如：cup, kind, chicken
2)[f]字母f和字母組合ph都發這個音。例如：father, photo *注：gh也發[f]
3)[kw]字母組合qu發這個音。例如：quarter, question
